Attend the Emerald Isle Christmas Parade
Each year, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, locals and visitors flock to Emerald Drive for the official kick-off of the Christmas season. Beginning at 3:00 p.m. on the corner of Mangrove Street and Emerald Drive, children and adults line up and wait in anticipation for the Emerald Isle Christmas Parade to begin. For the fifteenth year in a row, the parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 24. 2018, invites you to feel the holiday spirit. At the event, you’ll hear festive music and see a variety of cheery, holiday-themed floats as they pass. The parade concludes with an exciting finale that features the one and only Santa Claus, who rides on the float at the very end!
Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods, as well as at the Bogue Inlet Pier.
Santa, Cider, and a Christmas Tree Lighting
The Christmas parade is just the start of a festive afternoon on Emerald Isle. At the conclusion of the show, crowds gather at the Emerald Isle Visitor’s Center to visit with Santa Claus. In the park, visitors will also find free refreshments, including hot cider and cookies. There’s also a holiday sing-a-long that leads up to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting! After the parade, be sure to follow the crowds to catch all of these exciting activities and to see the glittering Emerald Isle Christmas Tree!
Attend Other Area Events
The nearby towns of Swansboro and Morehead City each host their own holiday celebration! The Swansboro Christmas Flotilla is a fantastic event. It takes place the day after Thanksgiving on the Swansboro waterfront. There, you’ll be able to watch as a parade of decorated boats sail down the waters. Enjoy treats like funnel cakes, cider, and hot cocoa while you enjoy the sights. Keep your eyes peeled for an appearance by Santa!
Another great option is the Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla, which takes place in Morehead City.
