If you’re ready to take on some competition, register for a local fishing tournament. The Gordie McAdams Speckled Trout Surf Fishing Tournament is a local favorite, and it takes place each fall. The rules are simple: all fish must be caught by fishing on foot, either in the surf, pier, inlet, or sound. The contest stretches from Emerald Isle to Fort Macon. The bounty here is speckled trout, and the contest runs from mid-October to the end of November. Registration is free, so don’t miss your chance to catch a fish in the Atlantic Ocean and earn a prize!
